Stone Buildings Gallery
Updated Jan. 2012! This gallery is a collection of photographs of stone farms and buildings from northern Kansas. Most were constructed in the late 1800's. The craftmanship of these structures is simply remarkable. They represent a proud history of a rugged people from an earlier time. It's interesting to note that many of these homes have a small stone cave nearby and you can see remnants of those in several of these photographs. These cellars served as storage spaces as well as protection from storms.
